GLCVB Visitor's Kiosk - Case Study

 


The Greater Lansing Convention and Visitor Bureau’s (GLCVB) goal is to attract and inform visitors about the Greater Lansing area and to strengthen Lansing as a tourist attraction. GLCVB was looking for a way to offer useful dynamic information to visitors, travelers and local residents. Rather than additional brochures and print materials, they wanted a more engaging interactive solution. Web enabled Kiosks would help emphasize Lansing attractions and local events and could be located in high traffic locations like The Marriot Hotel located Downtown, The Lansing Airport, and the Lansing Center.

Problem:

Create an intuitive easy-to-use interface for the kiosk that would provide up-to-date relevant visitor information. The interface needed to emphasize the established branding of GLCVB and supports the themes of “Culture” “Creativity” and “Diversity.” Developed as a web application, it had to be an attractive intuitive user experience where one can quickly access relevant visitor information. The layout of the interface required supporting a large 20 inch touch screen and would work without the use of a web browser’s interface or a keyboard and mouse. Information on the kiosks needed to be easily updateable and connected to the GLCVB’s existing website’s database of visitor information.

Solutions:

Artemis was chosen to design and program the interactive kiosk application as a visitor’s resource for the Greater Lansing Area. The touch screen interface strengthens the GLCVB brand while also being intuitive for anyone to use. It easily allows access to important visitor information in an attractive engaging layout. Content updates are received from the GLCVB website including dynamic categories and listings for local businesses and events. GLCVB has complete content control and is able to update and change information both on their website and all the kiosk locations simultaneously.
